Changes to Confirmation Statements
All companies and limited liability partnerships must file a confirmation statement with Companies House each year.
Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act of 2023, the government implemented changes to the confirmation statement that came into force on 5 March 2024.
What changes have been made?
Registered email address
A registered email address must be provided on the confirmation statement. This address will be used by Companies House to communicate with the company but will not be held in the public domain.
Lawful activities statement
All companies are now required to confirm that their intended future activities will be lawful. This statement needs to be confirmed each time a confirmation statement is filed.
Filing fee
With effect from 1 May 2024, the filing fee for confirmation statements has increased from £13 to £34 for statements filed online and from £40 to £62 if filed by paper.
These changes are part of a broader range of measures introduced by the government. Companies House now have stronger powers to check information held on the Register of Companies and impose penalties for non-compliance.
